I'm glad you took the plung and got your TR7 up and running.

The TR7 is an excellent and rugged rig, if you consider that it's 20 years 
old.  It is also fairly easy to service (much easier than most Japanese solid 
state rigs, not as easy as most tubed rigs), if you have the extender cards 
and a service manual.  Fortunately, the extender cards have been reproduced 
so are much more available than in the past.  Also, the resale price of the 
service manuals have come down to a reasonable level ($15-$30 or there 
abouts).

Most problems come from either dirty finger contacts or blown final xstrs.  
Removing and replacing the offending board cleans the finger contacts for 
another 20 years (ok, maybe another three or four years).  Just be careful of 
the plugin cables that might be going to the boards.
