Hey guys,

I wanted to tell you about a grouop I have been trying out for the past few weeks. I signed up
for SKXX in 2006 and got a number
SKCC = Straight Key Century Club

Did I really want to operate a straight key very much? Maybe not, but I made a few QSOs.

I have since found out that this is a really great group of ops, and they are so well organized.
They issue a lo tof the awards that the ARRL used to do and dropped. Rag Chew Awards,
Straight Key Century (100 contafcts) etc. Many awards and all free. there is no charge. They
even operate a free QSL Bureau!

They list their operating frequencies for every band and it is never difficult to get a QSO day
or noght, inm my experience. I recently qualified for the 100 award but it is more than that. It
is a fun adventure into CW and not at a harried speed unless you want to send with a bug (I
am getting one!) A number of the guys use old tube rigs on these frequencies and a number
of QRP guys looking for contacts, who will gladly give out their SKCC number.

Around 7.055 - 7.060, and around 7.110 - 7.120 will find you plenty on 40m
Around 14.050 - 14.058 will find you plenty on 20m. All bands are in SKCC use 160m - 6m

So give it a try - I guarantee you won't be disappointed. For those who vcare they even have
some modern heolps on the internet - like a SKED page and spotter sites that find club
members who are on the air... the other part I like is that it's free (grin.)

Take a look -
