   With many new hams being licensed recently, the question of "how do we get them active?" looms once again.  One answer is "THE NEW HAM FORUM".  This is a "show and tell" session whereby newly licensed amateurs have the opportunity to check out various aspects of the hobby to give them a chance to see which 
area(s) spark their interest.   Therefore, the next New Ham Forum for the Northwest District area will be held on Saturday, December 13 starting at 0800 hours PST at the Regional Emergency Operations Center in Reno.  If you are a new ham or know some people who are, THIS is the place for them to be!  
   We are once again looking for people to help give presentations on various subjects on our great hobby.  This includes IRLP and Echolink, Packet radio,  Emergency Communications (ARES), Amateur Television and Proper Operating Procedure, DXing and Contesting among others.  If you would like to help with a presentation or be available during the day to help answer questions please feel free to contact me at KE7AJO at gbis.com.
