Regarding the following report from Glenn Hale in Henderson:

Initial HF radio tests around 0800 to 0830 L from the SNHD mobile trailer were conducted, but no transmissions could be heard from the station on 75 or 40 meters. The decision was made to relay VHF traffic messages to HF using my home station. Prior to the start of the exercise, I could only hear portions of the transmissions from Washoe County. Several 75M audio checks were done prior to the start time. Paul NG1Q, Dave KE7LC and Bob W7WOW provided HF circuit merit reports. Bob had the best location to hear both south and north stations.

Most attempts to set up a quick HF antenna at a public facility will meet with difficulty and probably will not be done quickly. I suggest we consider doing what Glenn did and designate an HF operator to work from an established station that has good antennas and equipment. The HF station can monitor net control and operate as any other tactical station. There are several DCART members who could perform this function so that we don't have to be dependent on just one station.
