July 14th marks the 27th running of the world famous Death Ride - a bicycle tour of the California Alps covering five passes, 129 miles and elevation changes of 15,000'. I mean this thing will blister your toes.

TARA (Tahoe Amateur Radio Association) handles the difficult task of maintaining radio communication through the entire course. TARA invites DCART members to join in the excitement and challenge of this communication exercise.

The DR course covers Monitor Pass, Ebbetts Pass (both twice) and Carson Pass. There are 14 water, lunch and rest stops. All require communications. All are stationary locations - no SAGs (narrow roads make it impossible).

The start-finish point is Turtle Rock Park (Markleeville) and, yes, it's a long day starting early and involving road closures. Flip the coin and you have "A day to Remember". Heck, it's more than that....it's a day you'll never forget, and will always bring a smile to your face.

Wanna join?? Just a phone call or an email. We'll make it work.
