Summer always brings an abundance of wonderful opportunities for amateur radio operators.  This year is no exception and is chuck full of good stuff.

ARES members normally get involved through local clubs or word of mouth or, sometimes, a general call broadcast over the Internet.  '07 is the year we have our own thing!

"Wings of Change" is an Air Show and Open House planned for our own Minden-Tahoe Airport.  It's the kick off event for MAGIKO, a two week Carson Valley celebration.

ARES (DCART) has been designated an integral part of the communications package for this event.  The Douglas County Communications Van will be on site and serve as HQ.  We supply communicators to shadow five highly active roving supervisors, plus the temporary tower, the van and the "Air Boss".  This fellow takes on the task of controlling the field during the aerobatics, balloon launch and fly bys.

A great opportunity for ARES to strut our stuff, serve our community, have a great day on the tarmac and enjoy an outstanding Air Show.  Without ARES, interoperability is in the tank.

June 23 - Saturday - all day, ending with a Hanger Party.  More info to come....but save the date!  Let me know if you'd like to be a part of this historic and classic event.  You'll be telling your grandchildren about it.
