Subject: Security Issue and Requirements
Dick,
It has come to my attention that some members of DCART who are not
currently assigned to the communications center are entering and working or
attempting to work at the DCART station in the communications Center.
Please readdress to ALL members that only those individuals who have been
approved by this office (Director or supervisors) and cleared through you
or Mr. Anderson are allowed to enter and/or work at the DCART radio station
and MUST wear the issued department badge at ALL times while in the center.
Furthermore we are ensuring we are in full compliance with FBI security
requirements regarding indirect/direct dissemination of criminal justice
information, what this means is that ANY individual who shall come in
contact indirectly or directly with criminal justice information (such as
sitting/working in dispatch) MUST have a complete background to include
fingerprinting and submission to the FBI for criminal history. Any member
of DCART who will be assigned to work inside the communications center MUST
be fingerprinted; this requirement must be completed before October
1st. Please ensure all individuals who are assigned to the center,
including you, see me for the document required to get this done at the
sheriff's office (no fee). And again, this is a requirement that I MUST
complete as our agency will be receiving an audit from the FBI in the next
several months.
I want to make sure we don't isolate or discourage any member or future
member of DCART to volunteer, as you and the team are very important and a
valuable part of public safety, but at the same time we must comply with
all the security requirements.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. I am
attending a training class in Carson City this week on this very issue and
will be more than happy to address the members or individuals who may have
questions regarding these requirements.
Again, thank you for your assistance and cooperation.
Ron
