In the busy world we live in.
Who has time to dedicate 6-12 weeks of study for introducing yourself to a
new and rewarding hobby? Historically Amateur radio classes have been
conducted on a schedule that required self-study and going to a class that
only met once or twice a week. This resulted in dragging out the learning
process and increasing the difficulty in attempts for obtaining an Amateur
Radio License.
A different approach has been adopted that has had great success in past
years and we are happy to be able to offer this type of class for our next
session! This involves a one-day seminar that reviews the question pool
that is required for taking the Amateur Radio test. Students simply study
the questions and answers that are used in the test administration
process, and while fresh on their minds, take the test on the same day and
pass with remarkable results!
Research has reflected that most people that are interested in getting
their Amateur Radio License find it difficult to commit the 6-12 weeks of
study for the simple issue of taking an entry level FCC Amateur Radio exam
that consists of passing 26 out of 35 multiple-guess questions.
Most new amateur radio operators start with the Technician Class and then
advance to the General Class or Amateur Extra Class. The VEs give
examination credit for the license class currently held so that
examinations required for that license class need not be repeated. The
privileges of a Technician Class operator license include operating
stations while transmitting on channels in any of 17 frequency bands above
50 MHz with up to 1,500 watts of power. So it naturally makes sense to
pass the test and get started in Amateur Radio by "getting on the air" and
learning more about the hobby and community service that you can provide
with your licensed class privileges by experimenting with the radio arts!
Prospective student simply obtain the study manual, "Now You're Talking!"
that provides a list of the question pool that is used during the test.
They study the questions and prepare for the test. Take and pass the test,
and once licensed, have the opportunity to put theory into practice! After
jumping this initial hurdle you will then be able to go back and review
the issues and topics that are critical to operating your radio station.
As a licensed member of the Amateur Radio Community you will also have the
resources of joining "Radio Nets" and communicating with more experienced
amateur radio operators that can mentor you into the aspects of Amateur
Radio that interests you!
We encouraged all to jump at the opportunity as it is a FREE class seminar
provided as a community service to enable you in being a valuable trained
communication operator with a resource that can better serve your
community as well as provide fun along the way!
