** License Exam Questions of the week – 198

 This week the quiz tests the relationship between operating frequency and the characteristics of a resonant antenna and feedline. The Technician pool has an easier question, but a reminder that some of the General and Extra questions will require a unit conversion to obtain the correct answer.

T5B02 Which is equal to 1,500,000 hertz?

A. 1500 kHz

B. 1500 MHz

C. 15 GHz

D. 150 kHz

G9B10 What is the approximate length for a 1/2 wave dipole antenna cut for 14.250 MHz?

A. 8 feet

B. 16 feet

C. 24 feet

D. 33 feet

E9F05 What is the approximate physical length of a solid polyethylene dielectric coaxial transmission line that is electrically 1/4 wavelength long at 14.1 MHz?

A. 10.6 meters

B. 5.3 meters

C. 4.3 meters

D. 3.5 meters

Answers:

T5B02 = A.

G9B10 = D.

E9F05 = D. (They used 300 / 14.1 MHz to determine the wavelength in meters, and a velocity factor of 0.66 for the coax dielectric.)
