[DARARepeater] 3D printing

Thanks to the recent TNG presentations, I went to Microcenter just before the quarantine and bought an Ender 3 Pro 3D printer. I’ve had a lot of time on my hands lately and have spent a lot of that learning FreeCAD and 3D printing. I’ve also watched my share of videos on 3D printing.

So far, all of my printing has been with PLA, but I’m thinking that ABS may be better for outdoor use. From my research, it looks like I need a few mods to make that work:

Replace the magnetic print bed surface with glass.

Make an enclosure to reduce drafts and move the printer to the garage to keep the fumes out of the house.

Print with the part cooling fan off. On the Ender, by default, turning the part cooling fan off also turns of the cooling fan for the controller board, so people recommend rewiring the controller fan to be always on.


Any other thoughts or suggestions?
