The "Programming Electronics Academy " (the online Aurdino training class subscription  that DARA paid for)Has a new course available . 
In their own words...
"We just released a new 2 hour training mini-course on using the ESP8266.
What is the ESP8266 you ask?  

It is a ridiculously inexpensive, WiFi enabled microcontroller that can be programmed directly from the Arduino IDE."
We could watch these videos at an upcoming meeting.
