"Arduino For Absolute Beginners"

classes will start Thursday February 19th.

Please contact Steve at KB8stb at yahoo.com with any questions.

And now the long awaited "Detailed Message" about the Arduino Class

Stuff You Will Need...

1. A computer of some sort (recommend a Laptop)

operating system is NOT important, Linux, Mac, Windows OK but.....

(not sure about ChromeBooks and I know for sure you can't do it with an
IPad)

Your computer MUST have a USB port to talk to your Arduino board.

Most any cheap old laptop will do it does NOT need to be bleeding edge
multi core monster machine to run Arduino software.

2. Arduino "UNO" Compatible Board. Clones or other models ok, But its on you
to deal with the differences during class.

Recommend the Real thing...more on that later...

3. Miscellaneous stuff like...

*	USB Cable to plug in Arduino (A/B type - one end is typical USB, the
other is what would go into a printer) OR if you have a clone board whatever
type it needs (Mini USB Micro USB ect...)
*	LEDs AKA Light Emitting Diodes maybe even an RBG LED!!
*	10K potentiometer
*	220 Ohm Resistors (or something close for current limiting LED's
from 5V source)
*	10K Ohm Resistors
*	Jumper Wires or some 22 gauge solid wire
*	Solderless Breadboard, not required but will make prototyping easier
*	Pushbuttons (get more than one)
*	Any Sensor or Display you would like to learn how to use (I will
certainly get into multi line LCD's, but that comes later)
*	A great attitude and desire to learn something new and cool!!
(REQUIRED!)

And now a few suggestions on kits and where to get them... if you order from
the internet keep shipping dates is mind!!!

Local stores you can drive to that sell Arduino Kits

MCM electronics has Kits

Microcenter has
<http://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?Ntt=arduino+kit> KITS

Radio Shack has Arduinos

Parts Express has some Arduinos

>From the internets......

Amazon.com sells KITS

and I am sure there are other......

Watch shipping dates if ordering from the internet.

Also there are some really nice kits under $20 but most seem to be missing
the Potentiometer...

LOOK AT THE PARTS LISTS CAREFULLY
