Several of the group from time to time have wondered when the Dara Repeater
class started. This is the oldest email I have found so far.
It was sent by the Late Charlie KC8OQF on Aug 19 2008

Subject: Antenna configurations I have found
While checking on some stuff for Stave KB8STB and The Magic 440mHz Toolbox,
I ran across some stuff that just might interest the world...

The legendary Measuring Tape Beam Antenna
This is the page that is the number one Google hit -- I do believe that this
particular one started it all.
********
Performance Predicted by YAGI-CAD
GAIN 7.3 dBd
Front-to-Back Ratio >50 db
3 db Beamwidth E = 67.5 degrees
3 db Beamwidth H = 110 degrees

Info here about stacking beams and phasing harnesses
Indicated gain figures indicate another 10 dB (?) gain from stacking
Yes, you will need some 75 ohm coax to pull this off
http://zs1i.org.za/2%20meter%20dip%20yag%20antenna.html
This is the page for a very unique beam antenna setup.
Short, space saver, but still with some gain.
And he runs it stacked -- he gives details on the phasing harness.
He's run them with the antennas pointing in two different directions too.
A pair of these, made out of tape measure? This may be just gezackly what
you need.

pdf
Very interesting page in .pdf format -- a simple gain antenna setup made
with PVC pipe and two 1/4 wave verticals made from SO-239's. Phasing harness
details given, harness made of RG8X -- no trick coax impedances required.
And when you need to, the antenna breaks down and you have two quarterwave
verticals ready to go!
Food for thought, especially for those seeking gain back to Da Heim...
