2.

I received the following email from Joe Eisenberg, K0NEB, our speaker Sept
4th and 5th. Please review the kits he mentions and let me know if you want
to build one. I am going to do the Handi-finder DF kit

George,

I don't know if Sam, N8VES has contacted you or not, but we are planning on
having me visit to lead a group kit build on Thursday Sept. 4th. This is in
conjunction with my presentation to the DARA meeting on Friday the 5th. I
also plan on being at the club house on that Saturday for several hours so
people can bring in their unbuilt kits of any kind and get help with
construction techniques and do a relaxed building clinic - bring your own
kits and let's have fun! I plan on doing the Two Tinned Tuna QRP CW
transmitter kit, as it is an excellent group building project and makes for
a neat thing for your shack table and for QRP CW fun. These kits sell for
$30 each, and I'll have to see if I can get a deal on a group buy, but I'll
need to know approximately how many builders are going to be there. This is
a fun kit with no toroids to wind, and puts out a real clean CW signal on
40M. I'll need to contact Rex ASAP to see how many I can get. Here is a
link to the kit page: http://www.qrpme.com/?p=product
<http://www.qrpme.com/?p=product&id=EZB> &id=EZB Another good kit idea is
the Handi-finder DF kit, which comes from there in Ohio. It is at
www.handi-finder.com . This is the DF kit I used for the ARRL video "The
DIY Magic Of Amateur Radio" and can be seen on YouTube. We would need
either some yard sticks or some paint stirrers, like you get at a hardware
store as well as some metal coat hangers to make the antennas for this kit.
If you have any other kit suggestion, let me know. How many usually attend
your Thursday night group? I look forward to coming to Dayton soon and
giving DARA some quality hands-on kit building time.

73, Joe Eisenberg, K0NEB
