Attached is the Ham Escort Schedule for the 2013 Great TV Auction as of Sunday 21 April 2135L
I kind of waited too long to follow up on this—And, now, we are down to the start of Auction tomorrow (Monday). If you have not yet responded, please consider helping fill the openings on the 2nd shift. At the moment, I’m especially concerned about getting volunteers for 2nd shift Monday and Tuesday but will take sign-ups for all week, of course.
-- Note that the First Shift is filled for Monday through Thursday but we still have First Shift openings on Friday and Saturday
AND Second Shift openings on Monday through Saturday.
-- Four volunteers is the target for each shift.
Please let me know when you can help. Details about the Auction Escort Support are included below
Thank you!!

It’s ThinkTV’s “Great TV Auction” time again and your organization’s assistance will be appreciated to help escort auction phone volunteers and other Auction workers to their cars in the parking garage or around the WPTD-WPTO TeleCenter after dark—same as we [hams] have done the past several years. Auction runs from Monday 22 April through Saturday 27 April this year.
Most auction volunteers park on the first floor of the parking garage (right above the TeleCenter or on the streets around and nearby the TeleCenter. There never has been a problem but some of the volunteers are somewhat leery of who may be on the streets around the TeleCenter or in the stairwell or elevator. The stairwell to the parking garage is within 50 feet of the TeleCenter front door.
A crew of four (4) hams for each shift would be very helpful. Ham volunteers need to be physically able to climb stairs and to walk several hundred feet. Please bring an HT so we can keep in touch on a simplex frequency, 147.570 MHz.
Here’s the schedule:
Auction start time is 6 PM each evening Monday through Saturday.
Monday-Thursday
· First Shift of phone operators leaves between 8:00-9:00 PM

We’ll also feed you. Food is available all evening for our volunteers. Come in 30-45 minutes early and relax with food and refreshments. And, if you park in the parking garage, we’ll take care of your parking cost (be sure to bring your ticket in to be stamped).
The ThinkTV TeleCenter is located in downtown Dayton at the southeast corner of Fourth & Jefferson Streets.
Please forward this to members of your organization and recruit some members to help. The leaders or interested members of your organization should contact me (Fred Stone W8LLY via email to W8LLY at ARRL.net or phone call to 470-6948) to sign up for one or more shifts. Please do so as soon as possible.
Slots will be filled in order of receipt. I’ll distribute occasional updates via email as shifts are scheduled.
Thank you for your consideration and support of this request. Remember, your support of the Great TV Auction is an easy way to express your personal appreciation for the tower space on the Ch-16 Tall Tower being occupied for the repeater systems of the organizations listed below. And, besides that, it’s FUN and we’ll feed you!!
The amateur radio repeater systems on the Channel 16 tower support the daily operations of the following organizations and are dedicated for priority use within the West Central Ohio Region and surrounding area in the event of a disaster incident or communications emergency:
· Dayton Amateur Radio Association
· Dayton Section Skywarn
· Midwest VHF UHF Society
· Montgomery County Amateur Radio Emergency Service
· West Central Ohio Amateur Radio Association
· West Central Ohio District 3 Amateur Radio Emergency Service
· Wynn Rollert Repeaters
Please reply ASAP. Thanks.
