Talking about CW, I haven’t found a local Elmer willing to help me learn, I learn by doing and videos or recordings don’t work for me, yet here I am. Sad to say I can’t even get a club member to help me test / evaluate the keys and keyers I’ve collected from different sources through the years. If I sent you a list of the gear I have, could you help me determine what to keep and what to sell? I have a variety from an old telegraph style key to an MFJ and a Heathkit Iambic keyers.

I use Mode A and I use a genuine Curtis keyer chip - like MFJ has in some of their keyers.

 

Other manufacturers who manufactured Mode A did it incorrectly and you can complete a character and still make an error.

 

In correct Mode A once a character is sent and you let go, there's no extra dot or dash.  That's the way I want it.

 

I use Mode A and I recommend it because it causes fewer errors if your timing is off.
