Vibroplex currently makes Original model Semiautomatic keys in several finishes. All other models of Vibroplex have been abandoned, these include the all the pre WWII models (except Original model) and all post WWII models Lightning Bug, Zephyr, Champion, Blue Racer and Vibroplex Presentation. The only model is Vibroplex Original which has been offered in many different finishes: Regular with standard bearings, Deluxe with jeweled bearings, Blue Racer 2000 (now a full sized key but with cobalt paint and deluxe bearings), Vibroplex Anniversary (black epoxy paint with gold edge decorations and deluxe bearings), and Presentation finish with gold plated top plate, deluxe bearings, another version with gold plated base. The Vibroplex Presentation was discontinued around 1981 when parts were depleted. The last of those were sold out of Portland, Maine by Peter Garsoe.

Here's a photo of what makes the Presentation model different than a Deluxe Original Vibroplex. The 24k gold plated top plate and the LaHiff adjustable mainspring which allowed the user to change the feel and change the speed range of the key.

Here's a nice page on Vibroplex keys.

John asked every bug user he ever worked for the serial number of their Vibroplex. He asked me as well.
