I have two manual
typewriters, one is a Olympia SM3 Deluxe with tabs, paper
shield and paper supporting paper bail portable in brown,
and the other is a very rare full size Royal Olympia with
telegraphers type face with all capitals and slashed zero.
My "DREAM"
typewriter is a portable Olympia with Italic Large and Small
capitals with a slashed zero. The owner of Vibroplex in New
York had one - he ran a typewriter repair and telegraph
supply store so he sold both - he used the Italic Large and Small
caps manual typewriter for general correspondence as well as
copying telegram messages. At one time retirees from Western
Union and Press Wireless had a private wire running from
Philadelphia, PA through New York to Hartford, Connecticut -
with a few dozen subscribers who were WU and AT&T and
PreWi retirees.
When standard
manual MILL typewriters became rare, I ordered for my ships
an IBM Selectric and an ORATOR typeball which was small and
large caps, no lower case.
Some TTF fonts you
can try on your computer.
Orator Regular and
Orator Italic (from the IBM Selectric Ball typewriter)
Roman Pro Caps
MILL font (Roman Letters with serifs, with slashed zero,
large and small caps for correspondence or telegraphy!)
