David -

At this point, the repair/restoration/amateur market for quartz crystals is far too small to support a new custom manufacturing enterprise.  And modern commercial equipment designs almost never call for custom crystals - everything seems to be synthesized from maybe one common reference crystal or even an external reference.

That's why I try to meet our needs by stocking modern miniature crystals on often-needed frequencies, putting them inside vintage holders as the particular application calls for it.

When vintage holders run out, I will begin to offer 3D-printed copies.  Costs will be higher, though - and the "coolness" will be lower.  Now I hear from some customers that they really get a kick out of their "new" FT-243 dated 1944 !
