Bolo! (Be On Lookout for)..
Perhaps this particular
Vibroplex will turn up sometime, somewhere...maybe in your collection??
Champion standard Model, grey base. Black knobs, S/N 217601
It was my first bug, bought new sometime around 1958. It had my old callsign "K0JSP" written on the underside of the base.
In a moment of weakness. I sold it to the radio operator aboard VGXQ, Canmar Explorer 1
Off Nome, Alaska on 7/6/1976.
The ship's chopper landed near my station WKR at Nome to pick it up and take it out to the ship, anchored in the Nome Roadstead.
I worked with VGXQ on his way on west and north until.out of range. He was using my bug with it's quite familiar bell-clapper bang, glad to be at last free from the ships big awkward pumphandle key.
I never worked him again.
I would love to know where this bug ended up.
If you should come across it, I would reallyv like to hear from you.
