The British stations all had to use straight keys as speed keys were forbidden until circa 1980.

These regulations of course didn't apply to the other countries. But I never heard a bug being used in Europe, electronic keyers, yes but bugs were very rare.

The Bootlek Tax Free Store in Europort, Rotterdam was a Vibroplex dealer but by mid 1980s stopped selling them in favor of the ETM electronic keyer with built in paddles. https://youtu.be/jRZbW-5d6Bk
