I've used this circuit to replace the edgy and raw sounding repeater identifier oscillators in my VHF/UHF repeaters.  It could make a very pleasant-sounding practice oscillator if fed to headphones or a amplified (computer) speaker.

  I practice sending all of the time, I simply use my regular iambic paddles with my regular transceiver with the VOX turned off.  I enjoy my normal sounding sidetone and speed settings.
