Thank you so much, David, for the advertisement. Certainly our friends heredon't need it, but they will perhaps be happy to know that telegraphy is still alive in the French army. This training course could be useful for the next generation.

The transmitters are located in Vernon (Normandy), running about 5 KW on good aerials. The frequencies are  3881 and 6825 kHz so it can only be heard during the daytime in western Europe.. This course is implemented by the DIRISI (Direction Interarmées des Réseaux d'Infrastructure et des Systèmes d'Information de la défense,), 8th signals regiment.

Best 73 my friends, have a nice Sunday,

Jean-Pierre F5YG (ex FNHE, FNMV, FHIY, FNHD, FNHG)

These were found to be French military practice stations.  It was brought up last week on one of the email lists…. Later transmissions were in plain language French with callsigns.

Subject: [CW] Russian Automated Message Traffic 80m - QSP from G3ZRJ ex GKA

Hello All

Hopefully nothing to do with the Ukraine situation but...

Sent to you for interest sake only.

Russian automated sending Morse transmissions on:

May be in parallel, don't have spare receivers to check this

3530   5 letter traffic

3532   5 letter traffic

3534   5 letter traffic

3536    5 letter traffic with odd 5 figures at intervals

3538   5 letter traffic with odd 5 figures at intervals

I started on 80M band for normal contacts at 2135 GMT and heard the above activity.

I would expect the powers that be would be aware of this Russian activity however, HF isn't as vital as it used to be.

Regards
