Hi, DR & Richard.
Dang you guys! I woke up early,
4 a.m. here in Texas. Not sure if was your
electronic wagging or the dang furnace came back on, supposed
to drop
30F in these hours. Grrr! I miss Belize!
I remembered discussing this
sometime back while I was still in Belize,
realized I had a Presentation here I need to restore and dug
it out to
exam a couple of things, mainly the grounding braid. I dug
through my
notes that survived some computer crashes. I wore out three
down there.
I was looking to see if I had noted the screw that was in the
dot bar that
holds the braid eyelet, but have not found such. I will
research further.
I am certain it is #3, maybe 3-40, but it is pan head.
Oh, this particular one has the
La Hiff two screws bar. The main, pendulum
or dot spring is broken. I need to replace the spring and
weight bar. I was
about to do that when the VA decided to gut me like a field
dressed deer
to do a triple bypass. I am approaching near normal for me,
what that is and
to get back to working on the keys I have up here.
Oh, someone commented on their
arbor pin had a screw holding it with a
screw. Some did have an off set screw, but some are just press
fit. I will
have to eyeball a couple more. I had to replace one that was a
press fit.
Bill, W4PAL(sk), in book gave details of how to remove and
replace them.
Bill was one of my mentors in machining as well as my one
uncle. The
Lord knows I miss them both. I just hope I can remember most
of what
they taught me and pass some on to my three sons and others.
Oh, I tried some RubNBrite on
one of the Presentation 'GOLD' plate
and it looked very good on the part I did. To do it correctly,
I will
need to remove all the hardware.
I am going back to bed for a few more winks.

This is what I was trying to say just now in anther post. Yours is better.
