Hello everyone,
I came across this recording made by W1YT Ed who was living in the Tampa,
Florida area. I was sailing from Corpus Christi, Texas Southwest Petroleum
docks across the Gulf of Mexico, I was about 300 miles south of the mouth
of the Southwest Passage of the Mississippi River. We were headed for
Florida Keys thence turning north to follow the coast up to the Cape Cod
canal after which we'd go northwest towards Boston and Chelsea Creek where
we'd dock at NorthEast Petroleum and I'd be the first one off the ship so I
could spend 24 hours with my wife and children in Melrose, nearby. I'd keep
in contact with a bunch of excellent rag chewing CW operators like Bus,
K4IX (SK), Dave W1DV, Dave WG4T, KZ3O (whose name I have forgotten - but
who was responsible for making up the best "key twister" I've ever heard:
"6 SLEEK STEEL VESSELS DESPARTLY SEEKING 66 FEET."
Here's the recoding that just amazed me. I even thought I had been sending
with my N2DAN paddles until my sending stumbled and I dragged a dash. I was
positive I had been with my paddles because it was too perfect for the
Vibroplex Original I was actually using.
Tell me what you think. I was amazed. I added a recording I had made
earlier of a Thunderstorm and Rain in the Gulf of Mexico. This recording
became very popular in Japan!
