I'm pleased to let you know my translation of Clemens Gerke's 1851 book, *The
Apprentice Telegraphist (r11), *is now available for download on*
https://morsebusters.com <https://morsebusters.com>. *I've attached a copy
as well.

To the best of my knowledge this is the first translation of Gerke's book
into English - I'd never even heard of it during my research while writing
CWOL. I found the book -amazing-.

I wrote a "little" paper, *The Musical Roots of Morse Code, *that combines
extracts relevent to today's Morse ops with my own observations and
analysis. Among other things, these extracts show that Gerke explicitly
likened Morse timing to musical quarter and half notes, saw rhythmic keying
as the key to clear writing, and even documents the orign of the experssio,
"to work someone" in radio parlance. It's a feast.

Enjoy.
