My 1961 Original is the same. Most of the patents listed on the
earlier keys would have expired by 1950. My 1961 Original is the same,
no patent numbers shown. The patent law has changed many times and might
account for the lack of listing.
FWIW, until fairly recently United States patents were active for 17
years. It has been changed now to 20 years to make it consistent with
international law. At one time patent dates were listed. At some point,
I read somewhere 1927, the law was changed to require the actual patent
number be shown. Patents are issued in batches so when only a date is
shown it may be difficult to find which patent is meant. I think patent
numbers _could_ be shown before that date but were not required.
I was hoping that a patent showing the Lightening Bug design could
be found. It seems that either no patent was applied for or that there
was nothing patentable.
Thank you for following up on this.
