Like all of us, I was saddened to hear of Bill‘s passing. Although I worked him only occasionally over the decades, his signal late at night on 40 meters, whether in a QSO or calling CQ (with always a quick answer) was like a beacon home. It was especially so for me no matter where I was because Chicago was my home town and Bill was, for us, a prominent landmark.
