[CW] Left-Handed Vibroplex Presentation Blue Racer - FAKE!

Those are the Blue Racer parts - you can see that the distance
between the horizontal "legs" of the main frame and the top
of the main frame is much smaller than it is on an Original.
Attached two photo to compare. 188,422 is a #1 Presentation.
I was a little bit astonished that the set screws on the weights
were not knurled ones. In case of a Presentation I would have expected
to see the "more expensive ones".
Exactly this #4 bug was one of three reasons for me to start bug
collecting.
The other ones were an Original as a gift from my wife - and the fabulous
web site of KN6W and his friendly relationship to my wife and me :-)
Cheers
Martin

Yes, it could be a Special Order Deluxe Blue Racer with the gold plated
piece added but if you were going to that trouble and expense, why not
order a Presentation with Blue Racer hardware and with the standard La-Hiff
adjustable mainspring.
I think it was made by a collector using a Blue Racer from 1955 - can
anyone tell if the parts are the Original parts or the Blue Racer parts?

I WONDER ABOUT MY '72 CHAMPION WITH A NICKEL OR CHROME PLATED BASE. I
CAN FIND NO RECORD OR INFO ABOUT THEM EVER MAKING ONE OF THESE BUT I HAVE
SHOWN IT TO A BIG CW GROUP AND NO ONE DOUBTED IT WAS REAL AS IT SHOWS NO
EVIDENCE OF MODIFICATION.
A NYC FRIEND WHO USED TO VISIT 833 BROADWAY OFTEN TOLD ME THEY WOULD DO
SPECIAL ORDERS LIKE THIS IF YOU HAD THE GREEN. THEY HAVE MADE
LEFT-HANDED MODELS ALL ALONG AND TRIM DOWN A PRESENTATION PLATE AND ADD
IT TO A DELUXE BLUE RACER DOESNT SOUND DIFFICULT. MAYBE THIS APPLIES TO
YOUR BUG ALSO?

Unusual variation of Vibroplex semi-automatic key. Here is a
left-handed Vibroplex Presentation with Blue Racer hardware (I think)
and a Blue Racer size base. But alas, no La-Hiff adjustable
mainspring.
[#4 L Presentation Lefthand 188359.jpg]
Serial number: 188,359, 833 Broadway
which dates from 1955, however the Presentation would have been made
with the La-HIff adjustable mainspring, which this key is missing,
see photo. So it is a beautiful fake.
