Phillip,
Piero Begali misunderstood me about the spacing. The spacing is 23mm. It's
consistent on all the Russian Bugs with Two Paddles like UA3AO and UA3AMY
both use. The extra paddle is used "sideswiper style" with the dash sending
finger alternating between the regular dash paddle and the "extra" (added)
dash paddle to send additional even numbered dashes. For example in letter
"Y", the character is sent normally for the first three code elements, the
last of which is a dash. Then the finger that made that dash moves from the
regular dash paddle to the right and hits the additional dash paddle and
makes the last dash. Numbers profit most from this type of key, but overall
sending quality of dashes is improved because they come out much more
uniformly.
