I have bought plinths made for awards - made from oak, mahogany and 
similar - from eBay.  They come in a variety of sizes since shields and 
emblems do as well, and fit everything from a J-37 or WT 8 AMP upwards.

As well as stick-on rubber feet, you can choose self-adhesive green 
baize for the underside, giving a real old-world finish.
