You are absolutely correct Phil. Some of these guys have no perspective of what is going on in the world today. There are many tragedies but the loss of an aging publication is not one of them,
CQ is not really relevant; neither is QST for that matter in my opinion. The League really show themselves in the foot this year over it and pissed off a lot of people, many who have cut them off financially, The last amateur radio magazine I read regularly was HAM RADIO MAGAZINE (1968-1990). I also enjoyed 73 MAGAZINE when the editor focused on technical articles and stayed away from hobby politics. I always found CQ MAGAZINE quite elementary actually.
Nowadays there are many good online resources like QRZ, eHam and hundreds of e-mail reflectors so that the print media is pretty much obsolete.
