Sorry to hear about your loss. A good friend is quite a loss.

I'm still dealing with the effects of my mentally ill wife who misinformed
our children that I hated them or was violent with them (saying no to a
child to not let them have their way or even have whatever they desired
despite the cost was a type of violence to her). Of course she taught the
children never to speak about a probable misunderstanding so they carried
the errors of what she indoctrinated them with.

My son wrote me a letter saying it took him 20 plus years to figure it out.

No fault divorce where you cannot even defend yourself is horrible
especially when your spouse has been threatening to manipulate the Court
for years.
