I responded to this question shortly after it was posted but
my post never showed up on the list.
It shows up on the code card for international Morse as a
procedural sign for "understood" as printed in the 1928 edition
of Mary Texanna Loomis book "Radio Theory and Operating". It does
not appear in the British General Post office handbook for radio
operators dated 1969. I think I have seen it in earlier books
than Loomis.
Not to be confused with its opposite AS meaning "Wait". That
shows up on all the lists and is a current signal.
I sent my original answer via a smart phone and it shows up
in the "sent messages".
