Thanks to DR for the link to “The Radio Officer is Dead.”  Some years ago I
wrote a story on this theme but from the point of view of the very last
Radio Officer alive.  This was my take on what that situation would be like.

It’s entitled “The Last Radio Officer” and was originally published in QSO,
the journal of the Radio Officers Association.  It’s currently available
on-line at http://maritimeradio.org/last-radio-officer/ and is attached to
this posting for your convenience.
