Hans,
Usually the best military and commercial operators ARE amateur radio
operators.
In the past I've seen some absolutely amazing amateur radio operators, and
what did they do? They became commercial operators.
Finding operators as good as GBTT and KCEJ on the ham bands when they've
never been Navy, USCG or commercial operators is quite a challenge.
That's not an insult, that's just an observation.
The easiest place to do it is on a net where the ex USN, USCG, and
Merchant Marine / Merchant Navy operators gather. That's why I mentioned
SOWP net.
There certainly are exceptions, but I believe you want to twist what I said
to read it in the most unfavorable way. That's very unfortunate and
completely out of context for me as an individual.
Probably you improved as an operator because of your many years as a USN
Chief Radioman, true? But the Navy took an excellent amateur operator and
made you an outstanding radioman, true?
I have the feeling you are especially grouchy these last few months.
I hope things improve.
