[CW] Off Topic - Arrecibo Observatory to be Demolished

While it is easy and fashionable to blame stuff like this on the 
allegedly disinterested younger generation, I would note that the 
funding for projects like this in particular, and in science and 
education in general, is controlled by folks in congress mostly in their 
sixties and seventies with little interest in tiktok and a great 
affection for the goal of eliminating the taxes necessary to pay for 
things like Arecibo or anything else that isn't directly related to 
defense, law enforcement, or trade.  By extension, the blame for the 
poor state of science, education, and research funding falls on those of 
us who continue to give the opportunity to do so.
