Hi Spud,

Charles Apgar, W2MN who recorded transmissions from WSL in Sayville,
NY.  Here's some of his story:

Although all of the wax cylinders were destroyed or stolen (I forget
which), several segments of Apgar's original wax cylinder recordings
were preserved because NBC radio made recordings or interviews with
Apgar on an aluminum disk were made.
