Hi Murray Dow,
Thank you for your email about your father's and grandfater's Dow Key
making activities.
( Sorry that email address does not work well so I just received your
message.)
(Please use the one above in the future.)
I do not have any of the keys you are looking for but I will copy your
email to our email group of 300+ collectors and maybe someone can help you.
Any personal memories that you would care to share with us would be
appreciated as we do not know a great deal about your father or grandfather
but we are all very familiar with their great keys and most of us have
several models of their keys in our collections.
We would be particularly interested in knowing why your father or
grandfather decided to make the slanted and rotatable models.
Kindest regards and best season's greetings... Tom

Dear Professor Perera,
I got your name off the qsl.net website, and am contacting you to determine
if you could help me with a quest.
My name is Murray Dow. My grandfather was Paul Piel Dow, who patented the
Dow-key telegraph key. I was liviing
in Winnipeg with my grandparents when he was building the keys in our
basement at 578 Goulding Street.
I fondly remember him and my father, Gordon, working to build these units
with just the very basic pieces
of equipment.
I am putting together a little collection that I want to pass on to my son
and grandson that
shows them what my grandfather and father were able to accomplish through
hard work and determination.
I have several keys -- some old ones from the early days in Winnipeg and
later on from Warren, Minnesota.
What I would really like to find is one of the keys that has the Brewer,
Maine sticker on it.
My mother, father and I lived in Brewer for a short time, and Dad assembled
keys and shipped them from there --
I suspect to avoid the import duty in the U.S. If you know of one, or know
anyone that might have one, I would
like to see if it would be available.
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Murray Dow
