25 cent answer, not worth much, but it's worth something.

Weight influences dot length, dash length, interelement length.
Basically it extends the length of the dots and dashes to make them
heavier. You can make heavier dashes but the dots will be heavier also
and the interelement spacing will be decreased by the amount of time
that the dot and dashes are extended.

You can also change the dot to dash ratio - this preserves the
interelement length at "one dot value of time" but changes the dash to
whatever you set it at without changing the length of the dot.
