Oh, that's terrible Spud. How embarrassing for real salts like yourself.
You and I agree, you always need extra power when dealing with Arctic conditions, both horsepower and wattage.
Hey, if they listened to you, they would have put RADAR on Titanic and when they hit the big ice cube, used the satcom to chew out the International Ice Patrol for not broadcasting a special WeFAX chat over CFH Mill Cove, Nova Scotia Radio so they could steer clear of the ice berg.
Isn't it amazing that all the stuff I mentioned above is only less than 75 years old?

That’s right DR. She was built as an accommodation vessel for stevedores working in the arctic and of course just as soon as she was built the government farmed out that work to private enterprise and she was never used. She was way under-powered. One of the captains took her out to change a buoy one time but could not get her near the buoy for lack of power. They had a bunch of cadets down as far as Bermuda in her one time. She always seemed to be around but I am not sure what she was up to.

You got my attention Bill. Until I saw your call sign I felt you had been the radio officer in the Canadian Coast Guard Ship NARWHAL with call sign CGBP. He had a beautiful “bug fist” one could listen to and enjoy forever. I have not heard from Bill since he retired years ago and someone said he had won the lotto and taken off in a motorhome.
