This is another example of the outstanding cooperation between various
groups and the USCG which makes this outstanding, and it's exactly
what makes PRINSENDAM rescue so outstanding in my opinion. ALL of us
were needed, without the USCG, the paramedics from Sitka, the Canadian
Armed Forces, the USAF, for the rescue swimmers and Dr. Don Hudson,
Flight Surgeon who attended those on WILLIAMSBURGH, the people in the
merchant marine of USA and other nations, even the Canadian Ocean
Station that pulled anchor and was proceding to assist, ALL of us were
responsible for this, and I firmly believe that without this group
effort, this would have been a recovery operation and disaster. Seen
in this light of International and Intergovernment cooperation, I
believe this rescue is the U.S. Coast Guard's Finest Hour. And this
boatlift on 9/11/2001 is just another example of it. It fills me with
pride for our men in Bender Blue.
