FWIW, KPH is on the air again. Saturdays mostly. Also K6KPH
on the ham bands. Schedule is at
http://radiomarine.org/
They also use KFS on one frequency.
KSM was originally the Globe Wireless coast station in Los
Angeles. Never heard it, it was before my time. The organization
arranged with Globe, who holds all the above commercial calls, to
use them for its historical station but I think does not use KSM
any more.
Globe Wireless is still in existence and has an interesting
history going back to the beginnings of wireless telegraphy. It
also has some connection to the origins of "Silicon Valley"
because of its ties with Heintz & Kauffman and Federal Telegraph.
Radiomarine.org also has a number of recordings of old
stations, some of which are from our own David Ring.
