[CW] USCG in War & Peace

When I joined in 1962 the USCG was under the US Treasury Department, then during Cuban crisis assigned to the DOD, then a while after I left in the early 70s they were placed under the US Dept of Transportation (which dropped moral to an all time low) for a few years.
Now under DHS the guard has really found its mission and morale is, as I understand it, it is at an all time high.
However, through it all it motto “Semper Paratus” and it creed “you have to go out, but you don’t have to come back” has always been in the heart and mind of every “coastie.”
