I was just saying that CG RM sending "FTG" wasn't their finest hour.
I think you misunderstood me? I was trying to tone down the insult of
someone mentioning "FTG", yes it did happen and many USCG RM were
embarrassed by it. The person who mentioned it didn't say he agreed with
it.
For the record, I don't agree with those sentiments.
All I said was "it wasn't their finest hour".
I could go on for a while about some of the horrible things that US
Merchant Marine Radio Officers did, like the Chief Radio Officer on "Morrow
Castle." - at least he finally got caught for murder, but he was no doubt
responsible for using an acid filled fountain pen to start a fire on the
ship he was working on.
That's even worse, but all I said was "it wasn't their finest hour."
I do think what CRO George Rodgers of "Morrow Castle" did was far worse.
