I don't remember what the grace period was for a telegraph license, I know
it changed once Internet was available - decreased.
Maybe it was 2 years.  You could always retest, so the FCC person was wrong.

I tried to look you up on the FCC archive search, but your Telegraph
license wasn't listed just your amateur licenses, the earliest one  is 1998.

So no love!

Sorry the FCC gave you the wrong info. Probably was the local FCC and they
didn't have anything to do with Telegraph licenses since around 1975 or so.
It was all handled by Washington, DC and later Gettysburg, PA.
