I have a Speed-X with no label on it. It's in the original
box, yellow in color. Most of the label on the box is there but a
bit is torn off right where it says the city of manufacture. I am
pretty sure this is a pre Les Logan key. It has a reverse T bar,
i.e., it sticks out toward the operator and the pendulum pivots
are on the end of it.
You may be able to straighten the shaft using a vice.
As far as the dash lever I have never seen one that fit flat
against the main lever. Always a small gap at the hinge end.
I am assuming the gap is in the horizontal direction. If its
bent vertically it seems like both it and the pivot shaft may
have been bent due to dropping the key. You may be able to
straighten both with some very careful coaxing.
My key works very smoothly but is the slowest of my bugs.
Maybe built that way or maybe the main spring has lost some
strength. Mine is chrome (or maybe Nickel) plated. The only part
I've replaced on mine is the feet, the original ones were
disintegrating.
