Yes they were.  I always wondered if they were really Egyptian, or Brits just working there.  Not only fast, but clear and crisp code.  Running across them, I never had one problem copying, even when the bands were up and down.  They came through. 

The ones that pushed me were the UN guys down in the Belgian Congo.  Just skimming thru the bands, I would run across them from time to time and take a whack at their transmissions.  I might get a few minutes of perfect copy, but eventually my fingers got tired.  It was like copying a newscast, somewhere over 50wpm, but like the rabbit, just kept going and going and going.  Was my opinion they were using tty tape, as simply never heard a mistake.
