Hello, Bill, et al old QMNers.

I remember the days of old and Tate, W8FX, was SCM.  I later, after 5
years away for the USAF, I returned to Michigan
and the QMN & NTS.  I was K8HKM then.  In time, I followed Tate as the
Michigan SCM.  QMN & 8RN was a, if not the
leader in the NTS back then and I doubt that has changed to this date.

Many of the ARRL operating manuals and training publications were right
from early QMN notes.

From learning traffic handling and traffic nets some 50 plus years ago,
a quick run through my books, etc., nothing
seems to have changed much.  One thing I do remember from years gone by,
from net to net, area to area, different
pro-signs are popular in one, not in others and so I kept typed up cheat
sheets to stir my memory as I moved about.
They were just mind joggers.

Learning nets & traffic handling is never a waste of time. Four plus
years in USAF communications, TTY and CW with
routes to the USN and US ARMY being in Washington, DC,  I learned to
bend a lot.  The halls of the Pentagon were
long and wavered all over, AIR, WAR and NSS down the road.  Those early
years of experience I would not have passed
up for anything.

Enjoy, learn and experience it.

73, Joe, K8JP/K5 - V31JP
