You might search YouTube for a video about Portishead Radio which explained
that Lloyd's of London (ship insurance company) had a Desk which was
charged with compiling the locations of ships worldwide from Transit
Reports (TR's), Ship sent Weather Observations (OBS) and lastly
from Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue System (AMVER) reports
collected by USCG through Morse stations worldwide.
